The world's biggest pub crawl is well underway in order to build the database for this site. We will be adding further counties to this site until our exhaustive research is complete. Phew, it's a tough job but somebody's got to do it!

Star Inn Porkellis Helston Cornwall TR13 0JR
One of rural West Cornwall best kept secrets.
I and my family have been using it for over 20 years. it has always been a good pub but has recently changed hands and it is worth telling others about it - not least becasue regulars like us enjoy talking to those who visit the pub
The Star is a 300 year old pub, which is unusually for this area a free house, situated in the old mining village of Porkellis. A small village with a long history of mining which is now a farming village unspoilt by modern life and tourism.
It is a small pub but with a big atmosphere and now refurbished very recently June 2007 to a very high standard by the new landlords.
There is no separate dining area due to the small and cosy size of the pub but there is an extensive and up to date menu offered for customers to eat at lovely pine tables in the main bar. The menu is not at all of your fried food and chips with everything variety although you can get chips if you like. The menu is all good home cooked fare, with a modern slant. All ingredients sourced from local produce and expertly cooked. The food in this pub is renowned locally but little known about outside the community.
They now offer a traditional Sunday Lunch which is really to die for
In addition to the lovely food the pub serves real ale, has a lovely patio area for drinks outside as well as for smokers and a further pretty pub garden.
Children and dogs are welcome and you will always be treated as a local wherever you hail from.
The village is about five miles form Helston or Redruth in either direction and only a mile form the mining attraction of Poldark Mine. The pub is also on the John O'Groats cycling and walking route and ideally situated for a lunchtime drink, tea or coffee and perhaps a meal
Well worth a visit if you are visiting the area, especially if you are visiting Poldark Mine or equally well worth a visit and a meal out if you are resident in Cornwall, or it is just a nice place to go for a friendly drink in the evenings.
* Please note - this is an older image of the local Morrismen outside the Star. I will take some more since refurbishment and update
